Manchester United vs Tottenham – Premier League 2025/26 Match Preview

Manchester United vs Tottenham, a true Premier League classic which nearly always delivers on entertainment and drama.

The reverse fixture back in November certainly did, as Matthijs de Ligt salvaged a point for the Red Devils in North London with a stoppage-time equaliser.

But with Michael Carrick now at the helm following Ruben Amorim’s departure, United supporters will be demanding all three points at Old Trafford in Saturday’s early kick-off.

Here is our full Manchester United vs Tottenham preview, and we have picked out some sports betting tips based on the latest Premier League odds.

Manchester United vs Tottenham Preview

Carrick’s return as interim boss has changed the course of United’s season.

Under Amorim’s rule, things were looking pretty bleak, and Champions League qualification seemed a far-fetched idea.

But a switch of formation to 4-2-3-1, one which actually suits the players, has resulted in three successive wins vs Manchester City (2-0), Arsenal (2-3) and Fulham (3-2).

Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez have shone as a centre-back pairing, while Kobbie Mainoo’s reintroduction in midfield has freed up Bruno Fernandes to be the creator-in-chief.

And up top, Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo and Benjamin Sesko all look incredibly sharp.

That will be of concern to Spurs, although Thomas Frank’s men at least showed signs of life last weekend, even with a host of injury issues.

The North Londoners battled from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with City thanks to a brace from Dominic Solanke.

It followed a credible 2-0 win at Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League, though there is no escaping the fact that Spurs are on a six-match winless run in the Premier League.

With Cristian Romero calling out the board on Instagram and the team sitting 14th in the table, it is not really looking great for Frank and his staff.

But a statement win at Old Trafford would be a huge boost, and Spurs have a great recent record against the Red Devils, including last season’s 3-0 away triumph.

United are winless in the last seven editions of this fixture across all competitions, the most damaging being the 1-0 defeat in the 2024-25 Europa League final.

Manchester United vs Tottenham Betting Tips

Anytime goalscorer – Matheus Cunha @ 2.31

Cunha has scored in each of the last two matches against Arsenal and Fulham, and looks a player reborn after a slow start to life at United. Wagering on him to make it three consecutive games with a goal looks a great move.

Manchester United total goals – Over 2.5 @ 2.50

Even though Spurs are actually fifth in the division’s away table – which just further highlights how bad they have been at home – we fancy United to be the dominant force in this game. The fluidity of Carrick’s attack, Mbeumo and Cunha in particular, should be far too much for a makeshift Spurs back-line.

Casemiro to commit over 1.5 fouls @ 2.00

Casemiro has committed 31 fouls in 22 appearances this season, but more importantly he is averaging 1.8 fouls per 90 minutes of action. In the heat of battle against the likes of Conor Gallagher and Xavi Simons, we expect United’s midfield enforcer to have a couple of ill-disciplined moments.
