Chelsea vs Barcelona: Anytime goalscorer – Robert Lewandowski @ 2.10

At the age of 37, Lewandowski is still bagging goals for fun at Barcelona. Poland’s record scorer netted his eighth La Liga goal of the season in last Saturday’s 4-0 win over Athletic Bilbao. Lewandowski is yet to get off the mark in the Champions League this season, though we expect that to change when the Catalans visit Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have kept only one clean sheet in Europe, conceding twice at Qarabag last time out. And with the likes of Lamine Yamal, Marcus Rashford and Ferran Torres in support, Lewandowski should be confident of extending his good record vs the Blues. The goalscorer extraordinaire netted three times in his previous two appearances against the Premier League side.

Marseille to beat Newcastle @ 2.85

Newcastle’s away form in the Premier League has been woeful at best, losing the last three and conceding eight goals in the process. In the Champions League, the Magpies have performed far better, beating Union Saint-Gilloise 4-0 on Matchday 2. However, a game against Marseille represents a far tougher European away trip, and we can see Newcastle slipping up here – even after beating Manchester City 2-1 on the weekend. Marseille also boast an in-form Mason Greenwood, who now has 11 goals across all competitions following a dazzling display in last Friday’s 5-1 win at Nice. Greenwood is at 2.50 to score anytime, odds which are almost as eye-catching as our pick!

Arsenal vs Bayern Munich: Total goals – Over 2.5 @ 1.70

This is probably the standout fixture of the week, as arguably the two best teams in Europe right now meet at the Emirates. Arsenal will be full of confidence after thrashing Tottenham 4-1, while Bayern demolished Freiburg 6-2 on the weekend – with Harry Kane and Michael Olise the stars of the show once again. So we expect bundles of entertainment here, and wagering on over 2.5 goals feels like a very sensible move indeed. Arsenal’s last three games across all competitions have seen at least three goals scored, while the ‘over 2.5’ selection in this market would have landed in all 18 of Bayern’s matches this season. And it’s Kane (2.63), Viktor Gyokeres (2.63) and Bukayo Saka (3.10) who are the favourites in our scorer section.

Benfica to beat Ajax @ 1.86

To say Ajax have found the Champions League hard going this season would be something of an understatement. After four straight losses to Inter (0-2), Marseille (4-0), Chelsea (5-1) and Galatasaray (0-3), the writing is already on the wall for the Dutch club. Ajax were also beaten 2-1 at home by Excelsior on the weekend, their third straight Eredivisie match without a victory. So this really is a huge opportunity for Benfica and Jose Mourinho to grab three precious points, one which we can see them taking. Of course, the Portuguese side have also lost all four Champions League matches this season, a run which featured two away games vs Newcastle (3-0) and Chelsea (1-0). But this Ajax team is nowhere near the level of those two sides, so Benfica still get our nod of approval.
