Premier League Matchday 21

Another week, another full schedule of Premier League fixtures.

The busy festive period is coming to a close with 10 more amazing games, including a huge clash between Arsenal and Liverpool on Thursday evening.

Manchester City are also looking to keep pace with the table-topping Gunners, and Pep Guardiola’s side host Brighton on Wednesday.

It could be a defining week in the Premier League season, and here are our betting picks for Matchday 21, all of them based on the latest football odds.

*All odds are subject to change

Fulham vs Chelsea: Anytime goalscorer – Harry Wilson @ 3.75

Wilson is one of the Premier League’s form men right now. The Welshman opened the scoring in last Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool, and has four goals in his previous eight top-flight matches. Four of Wilson’s six Premier League strikes this season have come at home, while Chelsea – though buoyed by a dramatic 1-1 draw at Manchester City – are struggling with defensive injuries. At such a good price, it could be worth taking a punt on another wonderful Wilson moment at Craven Cottage.

Manchester City vs Brighton: Total goals – Over 3.5 @ 2.01

As mentioned above, City will be reeling from Enzo Fernandez’s stoppage-time equaliser at the Etihad on the weekend. Guardiola also picked up a few more injuries, with Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias each hobbling off. So there will be anger behind the scenes, and as Premier League fans know, City are a team to be feared when they are angry! The Citizens are averaging 2.6 goals per game at home, and boast the Premier League’s leading scorer in Erling Haaland. Brighton also possess some attacking talent in Danny Welbeck, Georginio Rutter and Kaoru Mitoma, so we fancy this to be a high-scoring affair in Manchester. Last season’s meeting at the Etihad finished 2-2, in case you were wondering…

Newcastle to beat Leeds @ 1.69

Newcastle continued their strong home form last Sunday with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace. Eddie Howe’s side are unbeaten in 11 matches across all competitions at St James’ Park, with Arsenal the last team to leave Tyneside with three points. So while Leeds are experiencing an upturn in form, this fixture may be a step too far for Daniel Farke’s men. The Whites drew their previous three away matches vs Brentford, Sunderland and Liverpool, though you have to go back to September for their last win on the road (1-3 vs Wolves). Interestingly, the last three Premier League meetings between these sides finished as a draw, but we fancy Newcastle to go one better this time around.

Arsenal vs Liverpool: Anytime goalscorer – Leandro Trossard @ 3.00

Trossard has been the definition of a big-game player for Arsenal this season. The Belgian forward’s last three Premier League goals came against high-profile opposition in Tottenham and Aston Villa (netting against the Villans both home and away). After being afforded a rest in the 3-2 win at Bournemouth, expect Trossard to come out firing against one of his favourite top-flight opponents. He has six goals in 12 previous Premier League appearances against Liverpool, and the Reds have conceded six times in their last three away fixtures following last Sunday’s 2-2 draw at Fulham. Over to you, Leo!
