Horse Racing: Saturday 21/02/26 – Best Bets

by Danny

There is plenty of exciting horse racing action to get stuck into this Saturday, with fantastic meets being held at Kempton and Newcastle. And here are some online betting picks for the day’s action, featuring the latest horse racing odds from NetBet.

Let’s begin…

13:45 Kempton – Precious Man – WIN | 13/20

I’d be surprised if Precious Man got beat in the Adonis this weekend, as he is a juvenile who has the potential to turn into a superstar. He got unbalanced when coming down the hill at Cheltenham after sauntering through the race, but was much more suited to the flatter track Kempton provides last time out. He should reverse the form of One Horse Town, whose experience and maturity was probably the reason he performed so well in the early part of the season.

14:25 Kempton – Jax Junior – WIN | 31/50

A disappointing renewal of the Pendil Chase, won in previous years by Frodon, Cyrname and Pic D’Orhy. Jax Junior is the class angle in this year’s contest, and while he won’t reach the heights of the listed previous winners, he should take care of this field. He is 6lb well in with main market rival Go West, and a reproduction of his latest Sandown performance should see him win. Jax Junior is generally a front runner, but showed his versatility last time, racing just off the leaders – and this adaptation may be useful if this race turns tactical.

14:43 Newcastle – Dom Of Mary – EW | 7/1

A light weight of 10 stone 2 is useful and can boost Dom Of Mary’s chances in the Eider Handicap Chase. He is a dour stayer who regularly hits the frame over marathon trips, including a decent sixth in the Welsh National last time out. His performance two starts ago, where he won at the course, showed him in his best light, as his stamina went into overdrive to pick up the win. It wouldn’t be surprising, or too concerning, if he is outpaced in the earlier stages of the race, but if he is on the fringes in the closing stages of the event, then you may be handsomely rewarded.

15:35 Kempton – Katate Dori – EW | 5/1

Katate Dori won this race off a mark of 125 last year and despite being 11 lbs higher, he can have a good crack at defending his crown. The rise in the weights was deserved after a demolition job 12 months ago, but he has held his form well this year, finishing sixth in the Hennessey and being runner-up in a competitive handicap chase at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day. He was sent off favourite for the Ultima at the Cheltenham Festival and despite pulling up, it indicated there was plenty more improvement expected. I am optimistic of a big run.
