There is more midweek football action to look forward to from England this week as the Fifth Round of the EFL Cup gets underway tomorrow evening.
Seven Premier League teams remain in the competition, with League One side Cardiff City also in contention for glory.
So, here are some sports betting tips focused on the three EFL Cup ties scheduled for this week, with Arsenal vs Crystal Palace taking place on December 23rd due to the Eagles’ participation in the Europa Conference League.

Cardiff City vs Chelsea: Both teams to score – Yes @ 2.04
Chelsea are, of course, big favourites to reach the semi-finals of the EFL Cup in terms of pre-match odds, though we expect this to be a pretty tricky assignment. Cardiff are top of League One and have a superb home record in 2025-26, winning eight of 10 matches in the third tier and scoring 26 goals in the process. Furthermore, Cardiff have already beaten Premier League opposition in Burnley (1-2) this season, so Chelsea will be wary of the threat posed by the Welsh side. Enzo Maresca will also likely rotate his starting XI due to some huge fixtures on the horizon, which could very well play into Cardiff’s hands. A goal for both sides looks a very plausible outcome.
Manchester City vs Brentford: Player to score or assist – Savinho @ 2.02
Like Maresca, Man City boss Pep Guardiola may very well make some big changes to the XI which beat Crystal Palace 3–0 on the weekend. Savinho has struggled for minutes of late, but expect the Brazilian to be drafted in on the right-hand side of the attack. And while the former Girona player has not exactly delivered much in a stats sense this season, we still fancy him to put Brentford’s defence to the sword. Savinho was on target in the 2-0 win at Huddersfield in the Third Round, and he will be eager to remind Guardiola of his quality. Lest we forget, Savinho registered eight assists in the Premier League last season.
Newcastle vs Fulham: Anytime goalscorer – Harry Wilson @ 3.65
Wilson really is a man in form ahead of this intriguing all-Premier League tie at St James’ Park. The Welsh wizard has scored four goals in his previous seven top-flight appearances, with his strike in the 3-2 win at Burnley last Saturday his third in four matches. And when a player is on such a hot streak, it always feels wise to factor them into your chosen betting strategy, especially when the odds on offer are so good! Defensively, Newcastle have also been a bit of a mess in recent times, with the 1-0 loss to Sunderland representing the eighth consecutive match in all competitions without a clean sheet. Over to you, Harry!
